Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

Hampton High is committed to actively promoting the highest standards of safeguarding and support for the welfare of all students.  We aim to provide a holistic approach to meeting the needs of all students. The safeguarding policy provides a secure framework for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and includes procedures for child protection, e-safety, medical treatment, healthy eating and other aspects of student welfare.

Hampton High will ensure that all staff in the school act in accordance with the law and with statutory guidance and legislation as detailed in this policy and associated procedures. Hampton High will comply with all current statutory guidance and within effective partnerships with all relevant external agencies and organisations to safeguard children.

We will provide a safe and welcoming environment where students feel secure, are listened to and are safe, as well as feeling respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice.

Principles

Hampton High is committed to providing an environment in which all staff are appropriately trained to recognise and discharge their responsibility to safeguard students and promote the highest standards of student welfare. Hampton High recognises that safeguarding incidents can happen in any school and all staff must be alert to possible concerns being raised in our academies.

Hampton High recognises and emphasises the need for good levels of communication between all members of the school community - staff, students, parents and carers and external agencies - in order to place student welfare at the core of our practice.

The procedures for ensuring and promoting safe, healthy and positive environments in the school will follow these principles:

  • The interests and welfare of the child are paramount. Hampton High will uphold the right of all children and young people to be protected from abuse regardless of race, culture, religion, gender, sexuality or disability.
  • Every child is entitled to be known as an individual and to be offered help and guidance with regard to their personal, social and learning needs.
  • All students are equipped through the curriculum with the knowledge and skills to stay safe from abuse and to make informed choices to stay healthy and to know who to go to for support.
  • All Hampton High staff are committed to providing a caring, safe and positive environment for all students in which to develop and achieve more than they thought possible.
