Students rap poetry in the library with Karl Nova

As part of our World Book Day celebrations poet, rapper and soon to be published author Karl Nova came into the school to talk to Year 9s.

He asked how many of them liked poetry, with various responses and then asked how many liked rap music which gave him a slightly stronger response. He explained how rap is an acronym for rhythm and poetry therefore rap is a subset of poetry.

He performed some of his own pieces to the students, including an acrostic poem of the alphabet with each line using alliteration, leaving many enthusiastic to have their own go at writing rap poetry.
