Jack Petchey Achievement Awards

Three outstanding students have been recognised for their academic achievements and significant contributions to the wider school community through the Jack Petchey Award scheme. The term one winners, include Year 13 Head Boy, Mohammed Deria, Year 11 student, Tyler Thompson, and Year 8 student, Kieran Moses. Each student was nominated by the staff and students across the school for their individual achievements. Mohammed Deria Mohammed was chosen for his ongoing contributions to the school community; he has supported the school with open evenings and mornings, attended student leadership conferences and helped run the student leadership team. Not only has he maintained outstanding results in both GCSE and AS drama, he has also successfully auditioned for the National Youth Theatre and Shakespeare Schools Festival. Mohammed aims to use the winning money from the Jack Petchey Foundation to work alongside Ms Jones to a put on a theatre production in the summer. Tyler Thompson Tyler, our second award winner, has shown exceptional commitment to her studies in GCSE dance and drama. She has taken on responsibility for choreographing parts of the school production and has supported younger students by leading a jazz club after school. She will be using her winning share to provide dance shirts for her dance club. She is a dedicated advocate for the Performing Arts Faculty. Kieran Moses Kieran has been an active volunteer at a local primary school, mentoring and supporting younger pupils with their summer gardening club. The club aims to inspire younger children to be environmentally aware by growing and harvesting organic food. They also keep organic chickens to hatch their own eggs. With the winning funds from the Jack Petchey Foundation, Kieran has chosen to buy some outdoor seating for Hampton High so others have somewhere where they can sit quietly and observe the nature surrounding them. Congratulations to all our winners for December 2016. Three further nominations will be chosen in April 2017 and in June 2017, who will be recognised for their outstanding achievements and will be added to the roll of honour in the school library.
